Tobi kickstarted her journalism career in 2011 as entertainment journalist, working in both print and online and interviewing a range of British celebrities that included Dermot O'Leary, Harry Styles and Tom Daley. However, in 2014, alongside launching the publication Black Ballad, Tobi changed writing gears and focused on topics that included but were not exclusive to race, feminism, beauty politics and pop culture. Since then, she has been commissioned by Buzzfeed, British Glamour, The Debrief, Elle, Fader, Grazia, The Independent, The Pool, Red, Stylist, Vice and many others. Furthermore, Tobi has also interviewed famous faces that include Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, Selma and Wrinkle In Time director Ava Duvernay and newsreader and journalist Sir Trevor McDonald.
